1.4 Environmental Policies

We only have one world, so lets respect and take care of it together. In 2016, 203.62 million tons of garbage was disposed in China. We each have the power to send less plastic and garbage to the streets and landfills, and waste less energy.

Thread is committed to continually improving our environmental performance. If you have any suggestions, reach out to the management team or share your ideas during the Monday morning meeting.

We Will:

  • integrate the consideration of environmental concerns and impacts into all of our decision
    making and activities,
  • promote environmental awareness among our employees and encourage them to work in an
    environmentally responsible manner,
  • train, educate and inform our employees about environmental issues that may affect their
    work,
  • reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by purchasing recycled, recyclable or refurbished
products and materials where these alternatives are available, economical and
    suitable,
  • promote efficient use of materials and resources throughout our facility including water,
electricity, raw materials and other resources, particularly those that are non-renewable,
  • purchase and use environmentally responsible products accordingly,
  •  communicate our environmental commitment to suppliers, clients, customers and the public
and encourage them to support it,
  •  strive to continually improve our environmental performance and minimise the social impact
and damage of activities by periodically reviewing our environmental policy in light of our
    current and planned future activities.

Suggestions on how your actions can make a difference:

1. Grabbing a coffee on the way to work? Bring a reusable mug or thermos.

2. Ordering ele.ma for lunch, tell them to keep the disposable cutlery and use our office cutlery.

3. Think twice about printing that document. If you have have to, consider printing on scrap.

4. Place all paper and plastic to be disposed off in the respective recycling bins.

5. Cloth bags are more durable and friendly to the environment than paper and plastic bags.

6. Your trash may be another person’s treasure. Before throwing something out, consider if someone else in the office could make use of it.

7. Have a colleague living nearby? Get to know them better, save on gas and costs by carpooling to work together.

8. Save energy by turning off lights, computers, coffee machines and TVs at the end of the day.

9. Reduce pollution and waste, e.g. excessive noise, heat or vibration generated by the activities of your work and business.

10. Reduce the use of all raw materials, energy and supplies.

11. Raise awareness, encourage participation and remind your colleagues to be environmentally responsible.
